Maxis Goes To The Movies!!

Maxis today announced that it has released an app to help you book movie tickets on your mobile phone, specifically, the iPhone/iPad and Android smartphones.  

The tie up allows you to book movie tickets using Paypal, and as part of the launch promotion, there’s a “Buy 1, Get 1 Free” offer when you pay via Maxis’-partnership-with-Paypal service.  At the moment, bookings are only possible for TGV cinemas, so the “buy 1 free 1” offer is also only applicable for TGV cinemas for now.  GSC cinemas will be supported at a later date.

Maxis Launches The HTC Desire Z !!

No registration of interest.  No pre-bookings.  No crap.  Maxis just made the Desire Z available, all of a sudden, without much fanfare. 

The initial release date was of course last Friday as I posted much earlier but they could not keep this date because, well, there was nothing to sell last week. So, it’s here now.  And available from as low as RM 1,449 on a loooooong term 24 month contract.

Maxis Completes Broadband Coverage For East Malaysia!!

Maxis today announced that is has completed the coverage of East Malaysia with its broadband coverage.  It launched coverage today in 5 towns in Sabah – Labuan, Keningau, Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Tawau while upgrading its coverage in the state capital – Kota Kinabalu.  Wow, nice to know we’re now able to get online while fishing on our holidays, or golfing, or partaking in whatever activity that soothes your soul while you’re in East Malaysia.

Maxis Launches Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 Plan!!

And it’s available in either prepaid or postpaid plans.  For prepaid, the deal is pay RM 1,479, and get the phone (RRP = RM 1,299) plus 6 months of the prepaid Blackberry internet service (BIS). The 6 months of BIS service is supposedly worth RM 660 (=(RM 1,479 – 1,299) + RM 480), or RM 110 per month.  I honestly do not know what plan this is, to tell you the truth – it doesn’t jive with anything on the Hotlink prepaid BIS packages page.

For the postpaid option, you pay RM 1,659 (RM 1,299 for the phone, plus RM 360 for 12 months of the BIS Advanced plan which normally costs RM 120 monthly), so you save RM 1,080 by paying for the phone and 12 months service up-front.

iPhone 4 Plan with Maxis!!

As of today, this is the RRP for the Maxis iPhone4:

• iPhone 4 32GB= RM2690
• iPhone 4 16Gb= RM2290

The iPhone 3Gs 8GB version will be priced at RM1890. These pricing are accurate at the point of writing, unless Maxis has got time to change pricing within the next 5 working days.

As for the iPhone 4 plans, you may refer to the current iPhone 3Gs plans and it won’t differ much. No free bumper will be given out.

The iPhone4 announcement will take place on the 23 September, midnight 11.59pm followed by an official launch on September 24, 2010. I will be blogging live from the Maxis iPhone4 event on September 23.

Registration of Interest of the Maxis iPhone 4 will be closed tonight.

As for DiGi, they will launch on Sept 24 as well and not Sept 21 as speculated earlier. As for the DiGi iPhone 4 pricing, they(DiGi) have not decided on it. ^ ^
