Nokia N8, C7, C3 and X3 Launch!!

contract free device prices: N8 = RM 1,690, C7 = RM 1,490, C3 = RM 520 and X3 = RM 610.
availability: N8 in stores Oct 16 onwards, in Maxis Centres Oct 20 onwards.  C7 expected end of October.

N8 will be celco exclusive to Maxis for a period of 4 weeks.  You can still buy it in Nokia’s retail stores during this period though – exclusivity is only celco exclusivity.  For Maxis packages, N8 cost is RM 999 for 24 month contract, choose any data plan similar to Android devices (500MB = RM 58, 1GB = RM 78, 3GB = RM 88) + any value plus plan (50, 80, 150, 250, 500) or RM 1,249 for 12 month contract (same data plan + voice plan combo).

3 colours of N8 will be available initially = dark grey, silver white and green.  Orange and blue to be available Soon. All 3 colours for the C7 should be available at launch.

no stylus with the N8 – this was deemed unnecessary.  Nokia’s product manager, Glen Cha, demo’ed Chinese handwriting recognition to me which worked well.  Handwriting was done using the index finger.

webTV on the N8 will include foreign content as well as local ones from, for example, 8TV and TV3.

the C3  model launched today is the C3-00, C3-01 will be launched soon.  C3-01 is similar to the X3 launched today, ie. it is a touch and/or type device.  C3-00 is a type only device, no touchscreen.
