The latest toy from Toys R’ Us or Mattel. It’s actually the tablet computer from RIM, makers of the iconic Blackberry smartphones. It used to be called the Blackpad by the media, which I thought was a rather silly name for a device. It does not run the Blackberry OS. Instead, the PlayBook runs an operating system called QNX (now renamed “BlackBerry Tablet OS“), which is Linux based. QNX was purchased by RIM, presumably specifically for the purpose of developing this tablet.
