There is a new feature that comes with the newly announced HTC Desire HD and Desire Z – something HTC calls Fast Boot. This is where you switch off the device completely, and then turn it back on. Android phones normally would go through the entire boot sequence, and it may take a minute or a few, depending on brand and model, until the phone is actually usable.
Fast Boot stores the system state in RAM, so that when the user switches on the phone again, it boots up really quickly – something like hibernation mode in Windows. See view below. Source.
